Lasimm
Videos
Here you can find videos with the latest developments of the Lasimm Project.
1. Lasimm Machine layout overview
This video highlights the parallel manufacturing and multi-head deposition features of LASIMM. The modular approach of the machine’ system architecture is created to enable flexible reconfiguration of the machine, thus having potential for a high number of machine concepts. The machine will feature capabilities for AM, machining, cold-work, metrology and inspection.
2. Assembling the world largest hybrid machine
The project brings together a coalition of 10 partners that thought, plan and built a 9x13x5m machine cell, encompassing 2 robots, a milling machine (PKM – Parallel Kinematic Machine), a turning table, among other equipment’s, capable of producing parts up to 6 meters long and 4 meters wide. This video shows a glimpse of what it took to assemble such large cell.
3. LASIMM machine is ready to print
We are proud to announce that the integration of the largest hybrid machine is completed. The robots have been equipped with welding torches which bring the additive capability to the machine. Cameras have been installed to allow the monitorization of the entire process. The synchronization of the robots is done, and preliminary tests have been performed.
4. LASIMM - Printing large parts
The first set of steel parts has been deposited and its huge. LASIMM’s modularity enabled the integration of two robots, doubling the deposition rate of the machine. The control of the robots is done by software which assures that the robots do not interfere and/or collide with each other. Moreover, the turning fixture system allows the deposition of material on both sides of the baseplate, offering a wider working volume to build the parts.
5. LASIMM – Machining capabilities
The LASIMM machine has an integrated Parallel Kinematic Machine (PKM) , which enables the capability of probing and machining previously deposited parts. This large 5-axis red robot has the stiffness and accuracy to bring the deposited parts to its final geometry, as well as the capability to probe and assess the geometry of the built parts.
6. LASIMM – Producing Aluminium parts
LASIMM’s machine has the capability to manufacture parts from different sets materials. The machine’s flexibility offers a wide range of possibilities as the same machine can be adapted not only to build different geometric parts but also build parts with different materials. Through a quick change of the deposition wire it is possible to start producing parts from a totally different material within minutes.
